Synopsis
Behind the Jia family's vermilion gates, lanterns burn as though the feast will never end. After her mother's death, Lin Daiyu arrives from the south and meets Jia Baoyu, a restless young aristocrat who values poetry and affection above rank. In each other, they find a refuge no wealth can buy.
But the elders see a more fitting match in Xue Baochai, whose composure conceals a heart of her own. Within Grand View Garden, young women write poems, laugh, quarrel, and dream of lives they cannot choose. Outside it, Wang Xifeng manages a household sustained by favors, money, and secrets.
Then rumors become accusations. Rooms are searched; cherished companions are driven away. As the family's grandeur unravels, Baoyu and Daiyu discover that love grants them no power over their future.
The music still plays behind the curtains. The feast is ending. When the dream breaks, who will remember the voices that once filled these rooms?
