Terms of Service
Effective 24 September 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of noverie.xyz and any Noverie app that uses the same account (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Dreamread Technology Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong (“Noverie”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
How we handle your personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
1. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age at which your country allows you to agree to online services on your own (16 in parts of the European Union). If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
Some works are rated 18+ because they contain mature content; the rating is shown on the work's page. Those works are meant for adult readers — if you are under 18, do not read them. Parents and guardians decide what the minors in their care read.
2. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for everything done through your account; tell us at once if you believe someone else has used it.
- One person, one account. Do not share, sell or transfer an account.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, and we may refuse to open one.
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. What happens to your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
3. The Service and your licence to read
Noverie makes written works available to read online: original works licensed to the platform, translations, and public-domain classics. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to read that content through the Service for your own, non-commercial use.
Except as the Service itself allows, you may not:
- copy, download, extract, scrape, record or store the works, in whole or in part, by any means, including automated tools;
- redistribute, publish, perform, display, sell, lend or make the works available to anyone else;
- translate, adapt or create derivative works from them;
- circumvent, remove or interfere with any access control, paywall, watermark or notice;
- use the works or any part of the Service to train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning systems.
Public-domain works are free of copyright as texts, and you may use the underlying text as the law allows; the editing, formatting, annotations and translations we add remain ours or our licensors'.
4. Content, availability and changes
The catalogue changes over time. Serialised works are published on their authors' schedules, which may change, and we cannot promise that any serial will be completed. We may add, edit, re-rate or withdraw works and features at any time.
Chapters you have unlocked stay readable to you through the Service even if the work is later withdrawn from public listing, for as long as your account exists and we hold the right to make the work available.
Works of fiction may include mature themes; content ratings and descriptors are shown on each work so you can choose what to read.
5. Credits, purchases and refunds
Reading is free where a work is marked free, and the first chapters of every work are free. Where paid reading is offered, it works as follows.
- Credits (“Crystals”) are a prepaid balance used to unlock chapters or whole books inside the Service. The price of credit packs, and the number of credits a chapter or book costs, are shown before you buy.
- Credits are a limited licence, not money. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred, exchanged, withdrawn or used outside the Service, and belong to the account that bought them.
- Unlocking is final. Once credits have been spent on a chapter or book, they are consumed and cannot be refunded.
- Unspent credits: if you have not used any credits from a pack, you may ask for a refund of that pack within 14 days of purchase. Promotional or bonus credits (for example a first-purchase bonus) are never refundable. Nothing here limits refund rights that consumer law in your country gives you and that cannot be excluded — for readers in the European Union, this includes the right to withdraw from a digital purchase within 14 days, which ends once you begin using the content with your express consent, given at checkout.
- Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record: your purchase contract for the payment is with Paddle, which handles payment methods, taxes, invoices and payment disputes under its own terms. Paddle's terms are shown at checkout.
- Subscriptions, if offered, renew automatically at the stated interval until you cancel; you can cancel at any time and the subscription then ends at the close of the paid period. Price changes are announced in advance and never applied to a period you have already paid for.
- Accounts that raise fraudulent chargebacks or abuse promotions may be suspended, and credits obtained through fraud may be removed.
6. Acceptable use
When using the Service you must not:
- break any law, or infringe anyone's rights;
- access the Service by automated means (bots, crawlers, scripts) or in any way that places unreasonable load on it;
- probe, attack, reverse-engineer or interfere with the Service or its security;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your age or identity;
- post content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or that spams or misleads others;
- resell access to the Service or use it for anyone else's benefit.
7. Content you contribute
Where the Service lets you contribute content — ratings, reviews, comments, notes or similar — you keep what is yours. You grant Noverie a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce and moderate that content as needed to run the Service, for as long as it remains on the Service.
You are responsible for what you post. It must be lawful and must not infringe others' rights. We may remove or hide content that breaks these Terms or that we reasonably consider harmful, and we are not obliged to monitor everything that is posted.
8. Intellectual property and infringement notices
The Service, its design, software, trademarks and all works made available through it are protected by copyright and other laws and belong to Noverie or its licensors. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
If you believe a work on the Service infringes your rights, send a notice to noverie.team@gmail.com that identifies the work, where it appears on the Service, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We will remove or disable access to material that is shown to infringe.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the Service; where practicable we will tell you first. When access ends, your licence to read ends with it. If we end the Service or your account without cause, we will refund the value of any unspent credits; if we end it for a breach, we need not.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, about the Service or its content, including that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose. The works are fiction; nothing in them is advice.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Noverie is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from the Service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or fifty US dollars if you paid nothing.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Your responsibility to us
If your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Service causes a claim against Noverie, you will compensate us for the resulting losses, including reasonable legal costs, to the extent the law allows.
13. Changes to the Service and to these Terms
We may change the Service, and we may change these Terms. When a change to the Terms is material, we will give at least 14 days' notice in the product or by email before it takes effect, unless the change is required by law or addresses a security risk. Using the Service after the effective date means you accept the new Terms; if you do not, stop using the Service and delete your account before then.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Service, are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Hong Kong have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in its courts.
If you have a problem, please write to noverie.team@gmail.com first: most disputes can be resolved informally within a few days.
15. Other terms
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Noverie about the Service.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a term at some point, we may still enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours to a successor of the Service, telling you when we do.
- These Terms are published in English and Chinese. Both versions are intended to say the same thing; if they differ, the English version governs.
